PDF ToolKit: Edit&Read (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is designed with your privacy as a top priority. The App operates without any registration, login, or account system. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers or any third parties. All processing of your files and content happens locally on your device.
Because PDF ToolKit does not require registration or any form of authentication, we never have access to:
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. No information is sent over the internet unless explicitly initiated by system components (e.g., sharing a file via Android share sheet, which is under your control).
To deliver core PDF editing, reading, scanning, and file management features, the App requires certain permissions. All permissions are requested at runtime (for Android 6.0+) and used only for on-device functionality. We strictly follow the principle of least privilege.
Important note regarding Android 11+ (API 30+): The App fully respects scoped storage. On modern Android versions, we use the MediaStore API and the Storage Access Framework (SAF) to access documents without requiring broad storage permissions. The legacy READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions are only declared with maxSdkVersion="29", meaning they are neither requested nor granted on Android 10+ devices, maintaining compliance with Google Play policies.
All operations — opening PDFs, annotating, editing text, converting images, signing documents, and extracting pages — happen entirely on your device. The App does not:
When you use the "Share" feature to send a PDF to another app (e.g., email or cloud storage), the file is shared directly by the Android system; the App does not intercept or retain that transmission.
PDF ToolKit does not require an active internet connection for its primary editing, reading, or scanning features. The App never sends data to any remote endpoints. Internet access (if present on the device) may be used only for displaying open-source license web links or checking app store updates if you manually navigate to such sections — but no personal data is transmitted.
The App is built using open-source PDF rendering/editing libraries that are fully local. None of these libraries include telemetry or phone-home capabilities. No third-party SDKs (such as ads, crash reporting, or analytics) are integrated. Consequently, there is no data sharing with external companies.
PDF ToolKit does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the App has no user accounts, no data collection, and no online interaction features, it is safe for all age groups. Parents or guardians can supervise usage, but the App does not target minors nor ask for any personally identifiable information.
As no data is collected by us, there is no data stored on external servers to delete. However, any temporary files or cached thumbnails created by the App inside its private storage (sandbox) can be cleared by uninstalling the App or via device settings → Apps → PDF ToolKit → Clear Storage. Any PDFs you edit or save are stored in locations you choose (e.g., Downloads, Documents folder) — you may delete them using any file manager at any time.
While the App does not collect data, we still implement best practices to protect local file handling: all file operations use secure scoped storage APIs, input validation to avoid path traversal, and memory-safe processing. No encryption is applied by default to your PDFs because they remain under your own control; you may add password protection using the App's built-in PDF encryption feature, which is applied locally and entirely optional.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect legal requirements or feature updates. Any changes will be posted within the App (e.g., in the "About" or "Privacy" section) and this H5 page will be updated accordingly. The "last updated" date at the top indicates the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding privacy or the App's permissions, please feel free to contact the developer. We will respond as soon as possible (usually within 5–7 business days).
You may also reach out for clarification about permission usage, offline policy verification, or any potential security suggestions.
